Chinese tech giant Huawei has signed an agreement with Kaden investment to launch its largest store in Saudi Arabia outside of China, set to be operational in 2022.

Ericsson has filed a lawsuit against Samsung in the US, for their alleged violation of commitments related to royalty payments and patent licenses.

Qualcomm announced that it is acquiring server chip designer Nuvia for approximately $1.4 billion. Qualcomm said the acquisition of Nuvia's CPU and technology design team will help the company "meet the demands of next-generation 5G computing", as it is a new step in Qualcomm's efforts to expand beyond the mobile phone market and challenge Intel's lead in the semiconductor market.

Nokia today announced an expansion of its strategic 5G partnership with Zain KSA to rollout 60,000 FastMile 5G Gateway 3.1 with eSIM across Saudi Arabia over the next 12 months. The gateways will deliver stronger signal, better connectivity and ultra-high data speeds to every corner of homes and offices in the Kingdom. The move allows Zain KSA to support smart home and office adoption in the country with enhanced connectivity for smart devices through 5G and Wi-Fi 6, which altogether guarantee an improved customer experience.

The head of Swedish telecoms giant Ericsson, Bjorn Ekholm, expressed his concerns over Chinese reprisals after Sweden banned Huawei from taking part in the rollout of 5G networks. “China accounts for eight percent of our revenue. For us it has been a strategically important issue to be present in China,” Ekholm said.

Nokia has announced that Asiacell Telecom, Iraq’s leading telecommunications services provider, has chosen Nokia to provide nationwide network optimization for two years starting January 2021.
