After a year of challenges at all levels, especially economically where slow global growth affected many companies in our industry, we flip the page of 2016 and look forward to what 2017 will bring.

The year 2016 witnessed the serious talk of autonomous cars, IoT, explosive handsets and the issue around Lithium batteries, 5G regulations, spectrum, and not to forget cybersecurity issues which were on top of all our lists - even the US elections and social media. Cybersecurity now impacts important decisions and even gives the push for a president.

Many vendors and mobile manufactures were affected last year, resulting in huge losses, job cuts, restructuring and much more.

We hope that 2017 will be better. Opportunities for the telecom and ICT sectors are still promising and will continue to grow. The forecast for 2020 or 2025 is extremely positive led by huge demand for data capacity and an increase in smart devices penetration.

Many continents will witness an impressive growth with the deployment of new and smart government services, smart cities deployment, and smart infrastructure like utilities and meters. Extensive penetration of smart devices and behavior changes in users, as well as a digital generation moving at work with a more digital generation to come, means this upcoming generation will reach a new ceiling of data consumption per individual as part or as a result of the digital transformation we have been talking about.

Wishing you all a successful and prosperous 2017!
