The International Cooperation Office at OGERO, in collaboration with ITU-ARO, organized an event consisting of an open day at OGERO on May 7. During the event, secondary classes’ girls from local schools were invited for a fun and instructive day at OGERO where they visited the Technical Directorate, Data Center, and Super Computer.

They also met and listened to female information and communication technology (ICT) professionals from OGERO, Touch, TedCom and IoTree, who shared information about their career paths and professional life, and why they think ICTs are interesting, in addition to a presentation by OGERO on digital transformation and the General Security on online safety.

The event aligned with the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) ‘Girls in ICT’ initiative, which aims to:

  • Encourage girls and young women to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.
  • Inspire girls and young women to work in STEM careers.
  • Engage the community and promote collaboration through partnerships.
