Communications infrastructure company CommScope is preparing for fifth generation networks (5G) by helping wireless operators reach Gigabit LTE speeds. The road to 5G is paved with LTE, CommScope's VP of Sales, Service Providers, Middle East and Africa, Femi Oshiga, told Telecom Review at Mobile World Congress 2018, where the company's latest LTE and 5G solutions were on display.

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority is the federal body in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), responsible for the management of every aspect of the telecommunications and information technology industry in the country. H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori currently holds the position of Director General at the General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector. Speaking to Telecom Review, H.E. Al Mansoori opened up about some of the organization's recent projects, including its 'Coverage Center' aimed at enhancing the delivery of quality calls.

Emirates Data Clearing House (EDCH), a subsidiary of Etisalat Services Holding, is a regional leader in providing cloud-based roaming and revenue management services to over 50 telecom carriers worldwide. Speaking to Telecom Review on the sidelines of the EDCH-hosted GSMA event WAS#7 in Dubai, General Manager Nasser Salim touted the company's suite of solutions that enable operators to offer seamless customer experiences.

Emerging technologies such as IoT, 5G and artificial intelligence are creating new opportunities for telecom providers in the enterprise space, and therefore they require internal systems that 'transcend to enterprise', Ericsson's Head of Digital Services Middle East and Africa (MEA), Indranil Das told Telecom Review. Automation will play a significant role in this, added Ericsson's Head of Managed Services MEA, Eva Andren.

Rajesh Mishra, founder, President and CTO of wireless technology company Parallel Wireless, spoke to Telecom Review about the company’s critical communications solutions, including its innovative Public Safety LTE product. Parallel Wireless also showcased its unique BYOC backpack solution which enables LTE connectivity anywhere on the go.

Palestine Telecom Group (PalTel) is the largest employer in the Palestinian Authority after the government. Jawwal, PalTel's mobile operator subsidiary, officially launched 3G services in the West Bank in January 2018, but not yet in Gaza. Speaking to Telecom Review, PalTel chief executive officer, Ammar Aker, said it is the company's "obligation and right" to demand 4G capabilities having "requested the frequencies for 4G for the past three years" from Israel.

Ahead of the Mobile World Congress, EXFO announced on the 28th of February its acquisition of Astellia. Combining EXFO's technologies with Astellia's technologies will create unprecedented solutions, Germain Lamonde, Founder and Executive Chairman of EXFO told Telecom Review.
