Smart Dubai is gearing up to take part in the 37th annual GITEX Technology Week, the organization announced at a press conference on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in the Dubai Government Media Office.

For the duration of the event - which is scheduled to go on from October 8 to 12, 2017, at the Dubai World Trade Centre - the Smart Dubai booth will bring together more than 42 government and private institutions. The booth will take the visitors on a journey to the future, offering a vivid example of how Smart Dubai intends to build on its cooperative ties with government entities and the private sector in order to contribute to the UAE Centennial 2071, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai; and H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

"GITEX Technology Week has established itself as a staple annual event that attracts top-ranking decision makers from institutions across the country," asserted Her Excellency Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director-General of the Smart Dubai Office (SDO), as she attended the press conference, along with H.E. Wesam Lootah, CEO of the Smart Dubai Government Establishment (SDG), and representatives from local and international media.

Dr. Aisha explained that for the past few years, the SDO has sought to take advantage of the event to introduce its plans, projects and latest smart government services to the public and stakeholders. "As the government entity leading the smart transformation of Dubai, we are committed to achieving our mission to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world," she said. "To that end, we work to strengthen cooperation with our government and private-sector partners within an integrated and developed system."

"Smart cities are the future," H.E. Dr. Aisha said, "and with that in mind, Smart Dubai has dedicated all of its strategies, initiatives and programs to creating a better future for the citizens and residents of Dubai - one that places their happiness and wellbeing above all, as directed by the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai."

"Smart Dubai is actively and continuously coordinating efforts and initiatives with its public and private-sector partners," Dr. Aisha continued. "Our concerted efforts will facilitate the emirate's transition towards technological innovation to ensure optimal use of the city's resources and provide integrated and secure daily services for individuals and businesses. Our Smart City initiatives are designed to galvanize innovation in both the public and private sectors, increasing Dubai's attractiveness to businesses and further growing our portfolio of smart services."

GITEX Technology Week attracts experts, decision makers and pioneers in innovation and technology from around the world. The high-profile event helps promote Smart Dubai's role as the official government body in charge of leading the city's smart transformation and harmonizing efforts between the public and private sectors in order to make Dubai the happiest and smartest city in the world.

"This year's event takes place as the UAE moves ever so confidently towards the UAE Centennial 2071 and a mere few days after the Government Meetings that concluded last week," said H.E. Wesam Lootah. "We look forward to taking the visitors to our booth at GITEX Technology Week on a journey to the future - a journey we are already on - and to highlighting the achievements of the Smart Dubai 2021 Strategy, as well as our collaboration with government institutions and the private sector to achieve the vision of the leadership to be the best country in the world by 2071."

"We sought to implement the statement made by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum at the launch of the UAE Centennial 2071, when he said, ‘Our goal is that all government institutions in the country work as a team to make the UAE the best in the world.'" H.E. Lootah continued. "This is manifested in the booth's design, which illustrates high-tech solutions and futuristic smart services in a quintessentially Emirati mould. The innovations that we have successfully launched and developed in cooperation with our partners will be on full display, showcasing our efforts to tailor these technologies to meet the needs of the people and bring happiness to their lives."

"Our booth at GITEX will provide a real-life example of how to transform innovative technologies into futuristic yet accessible services that allow everyone to live a happy life and invest their time in the things most important to them," Lootah concluded.

GITEX Technology Week 2017 highlights the latest technology in healthcare, education and construction, among other sectors, and will offer, through thousands of exhibitors, a variety of new events, including educational opportunities, such as lectures and technical seminars with keynote speakers. It is the most important technology event in the Middle East and is an ideal platform for business and networking.
