The key findings and policy recommendations made by the ITU Focus Group on Digital Financial Services following the conclusion of its extensive two-year consultation process have been hailed by stakeholders across the ICT and financial-services sectors as an 'incredible success'. The ITU Focus Group presented its 85 'policy recommendations' at a workshop entitled 'Digital Financial Services and Financial Inclusion' hosted by the World Bank in Washington D.C. on 19 April.

In this modern era of big data, it's important to have a central platform to house all government information, said His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, at the launch of the Smart Dubai 2021 framework and Smart Dubai's new central government platform to house big data: Dubai Pulse. "The UAE is on the edge of becoming a 'Frontrunner' in Huawei's 2017 Global Connectivity Index," said Mr. Sami Nashwan, VP Strategy at Huawei Middle East, discussing the company's fourth annual study at a press briefing in Dubai on April 30.  The report provides a "strong view" on how countries have evolved their ICT infrastructure, and also how they have evolved from digital transformation, during the last three years.
