Ooredoo announced that Ooredoo Oman has accepted Mr. Ian Dench’s resignation from his post as Chief Executive Officer, effective 30th June 2021. The appointment of the new Ooredoo Oman CEO will be announced in due course.
Mr Dench joined Ooredoo Oman in January 2017. Prior to that he was part of Ooredoo Qatar operations since 2006 as the Executive Director, Corporate and VIP Accounts. In 2012, he was appointed as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). He was a key figure in the Ooredoo Qatar leadership team and instrumental in building Ooredoo’s market share in Qatar through developing and maintaining strong product and service portfolios.
Mr Dench's career in telecommunications companies has taken him across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Prior to joining Ooredoo, he was the Head of Sales and Marketing operations for Batelco. He has also held a variety of senior leadership positions with O2 and British Telecom.
Mr. Dench was part of the recent launch of Ooredoo’s highly anticipated Data Centre for business on the company's 16th anniversary.
During the inauguration Mr Dench had said that the data center was "part of our contribution to Oman’s Vision 2040, we continue to invest in cutting-edge infrastructure, and our state-of-the-art Data Centre is set up to meet the growing demands for data. We are driving Oman’s digital transformation and taking our data services to the next level.”
The fully equipped data center is expected to fulfil the requirements of the rapidly growing demands for local hosts and digital data processing in Oman. The 7,000 sqm facility is located in Baushar and was completed in less than 12 months.
Ooredoo Group was recently ranked number 40 in the top 50 global telecommunications brands, up one place from 41 in 2020 in the Brand Finance Telecoms 150 2021 report.
The group boasts total brand value of more than USD 3.22 billion. The Group’s Brand Strength Index also improved over the year – reaching its highest ever figure – and the company maintained its brand rating of AA+ for the third consecutive year.
