In a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC), Ooredoo has launched the Smart Qatar (TASMU) platform, under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, prime minister and minister of interior.

The platform aims to contribute to the growth of Qatar’s digital economy and push forward the competitiveness of the country through ICT and the latest technologies. TASMU targets five priority sectors namely transportation, healthcare, logistics, environment, and sports where advanced technology and innovation can be harnessed to provide smart solutions and applications.

“The ministry has been actively working towards realizing this vision, which will secure a bright future for the State of Qatar. Our responsibility was to develop the right digital infrastructure and technical capabilities that will help all key sectors in Qatar to remain at the forefront of information and communications technology on a global level, thus ushering in the digital innovation era with full confidence,” said H.E Jassim Saif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, MoTC minister.

Developed in conjunction with an international consortium led by Ooredoo, TASMU is one of the most innovative cloud-based smart city solutions with world-class artificial intelligence, big data, and cybersecurity capabilities

A diverse set of state-of-the-art technologies and data capabilities is integrated throughout the platform to empower cross-sector collaboration, drive sustainable economic diversification, address key national challenges, and support decision making, innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and businesses.

To enable TASMU’s flagship digital ecosystem, aside from Ooredoo, the MoTC works closely with world-class technological companies including Microsoft, Delta Partners Group, PWC, TCS, and Atos, among others.
