Affirmed Networks, a company specializing in virtualized mobile networks, announced that du, part of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), has selected its Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) Narrow Band IoT (NB-IoT) mobile core to provide an industry-leading 3GPP core network for IoT use cases, enabling a wide range of smart city use cases.

Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Huawei at Mobile World Congress 2018 to launch 5G tests for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The MoU was signed by Eng. Ahmed Aboudoma, Mobily CEO, and Mr. Zhang Dongliang Huawei CEO.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) announced that, upon the Royal Decree appointing HE Dr. Khaled Bin Hussain Biyari as Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs, the Board of Directors approved on February 26, 2018, the resignation of HE Dr. Biyari from his position as Chief Executive Officer. UAE telecommunications company Etisalat Group posted steady financial results on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, reflecting a positive fourth quarter for the company. Etisalat Group's consolidated revenue for the fourth quarter of 2017 amounted to AED 13.5 billion, representing an increase of 4% compared to the same period the previous year. Etisalat Group's UAE branch remains its most successful operation.
