Vodacom, the South African subsidiary of UK-based Vodafone, has signed a MoU with Nokia under which the companies will trial Nokia 5G technology to accelerate the launch of the new technology and enable Vodacom to drive digitalization for the benefit of businesses and individuals in South Africa.

Etisalat and RAKBANK, also known as The National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Managed Point of Sale services. As part of the strategic partnership, Etisalat shall provide RAKBANK with last-mile Point of Sale (PoS) operations as its outsourced and managed service partner, a first-of-its-kind approach in the UAE payments and banking industry.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC), represented by InspirU Business Incubator, announced the signing of an agreement with Riyadah institute to support and provide services for business entrepreneurs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Greece-based Intracom Telecom, a global telecommunication systems and solutions vendor, announced that jointly with MGTS, one of the largest wireline telecom operators in the CIS (Commonwealth of Dependent States), a member of Russia's MTS Group, successfully completed the tests of Intracom Telecom's Virtualized Wi-Fi Services Platform, thus making MGTS one of the first operators to adopt such technologies for their Corporate Customers.

South Africa’s MTN filed its plea in the long-running litigation where Turkcell is claiming damages against MTN as a result of MTN having acquired a 49 percent interest in Irancell, which was awarded the second GSM License in Iran in November 2005.

Etisalat announced the successful completion of the first MENA IPTV (Internet Protocol television) service over an existing WTTx (4G) network trial. Saudi Arabia's Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), in collaboration with Nokia, has successfully conducted a trial of LTE to the Home (LTTH) and implemented it using FastMile technology to enable LTE technology on a 4G network and become available on 2G networks. This comes out of Mobily's interest to provide the best speeds for its customers with high quality.

US communications provider CenturyLink has completed its acquisition of US telecommunications and Internet service provider Level 3 Communications for an estimated $30 billion. The combination of CenturyLink and Level 3 creates a global network services company capable of providing customers a wide range of technology solutions over a secure fibre-rich network.

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company PJSC, the parent company of "du" and "Virgin Mobile UAE", published its financial results for the quarter ended 30 September 2017, showing a 4 percent growth in net profit after royalty to AED 476 million.

Ericsson has extended its 20-year strategic partnership with Entel, the largest telecommunications company in Chile. Under the terms of the new contract, Ericsson will prepare Entel's network in the evolution path towards 5G by deploying its latest LTE FDD network technologies and LTE TDD Massive MIMO (Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output).
