Batelco, Bahrain's leading digital solutions provider, and Ericsson, a world leading telecoms technology provider have joined forces to successfully conduct the first-ever 5G trial in Bahrain at Batelco's Headquarters in Hamala, as part of the Batelco and Ericsson 5G Forum.

On May 15, 2017, Ericsson signed an MoU with China Mobile's Government and Enterprise Customers Branch and Mobike for a smart travel partnership under the "Belt and Road" framework. The partnership is a response to the government's call for green travel and the "Belt and Road" initiative which aims to improve the overall service level of smart travel and drive the global collaboration and development of the bicycle-sharing industry.

Qualcomm Incorporated through its subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., announced at its Internet of Things (IoT) industry analyst workshop that the Company is currently shipping more than 1 million chips per day for the IoT. This momentum reflects Qualcomm Technologies' unique ability to invent and deliver the technologies needed for the IoT, and to meet challenging customer requirements for interoperability, connectivity, compute and security. The Company uses its technical expertise to design platforms that help customers commercialize IoT products quickly and cost-effectively in areas including wearables, voice and music, connected cameras, robotics and drones, home control and automation, home entertainment, and commercial and industrial IoT.

Huawei announced the expansion of their Telco OS Partner Program to stimulate joint go-to-market approaches and solutions with Service (SI) partners. As part of this initiative, the company also announced that it has signed an Alliance Memorandum of Understanding with Infosys to explore joint solutions in the Business Support Systems (BSS) domain. This announcement was made at the TM Forum Live! 2017, where both companies are participating.

Nokia is to develop the 5G ecosystem with leading Japanese operator NTT DOCOMO, INC. in Japan to prepare for the upcoming introduction of the next generation wireless network. The collaboration - which uses the Intel 5G Mobile Trial Platform - will commence with the key interoperability testing of multi-vendor technology using the 4.5GHz frequency band.
