Nokia is showcasing several path breaking Industry 4.0 use cases at Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) in Dubai World Trade Center from October 17 to October 21, 2021. Nokia solutions are designed to help enterprises realize their business goals by improving operational efficiency while gaining greater control over their infrastructure. The demos are in line with the UAE's Government's Vision 2021 to maximize the use of technology to build a more sustainable and progressive world.

Nokia and Orange have signed an agreement to increase the use of refurbished equipment in telecoms infrastructure. Refurbished network equipment will be offered by Nokia to all Orange subsidiaries via BuyIn, the procurement alliance of Orange and Deutsche Telekom.

Nokia announced a fixed wireless access (FWA) breakthrough which could see a wireless broadband capacity increase by 5 to 10 times. Nokia’s 360 High Gain technology overcomes the challenge of outdoor or in-home signal disruption by amplifying available signals and dynamically finding the strongest connection.

Atrebo, together with Telefónica Tech, announced the use of TrustOS, Telefónica Tech’s Blockchain platform, to register the 200,000 telecommunications infrastructures managed by Atrebo's TREE platform, including towers and other sites. Thanks to this operation, infrastructure managers will have information on their actual status in near-real time and with total confidence, providing traceability and transparency to tower operations, both in terms of operations and logistics.

Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, and Ooredoo Oman, one of the largest communication service providers in the Sultanate, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for talent development.

China Mobile awarded a network contract valued at $1.16 billion to the country’s major equipment vendors Huawei and ZTE. Previously-invited foreign vendors Ericsson and Nokia have been left out, showing another geopolitical strain between the West and China.
