HomeSend and Ericsson announced a partnership to simplify and accelerate the adoption of international remittances via mobile across emerging markets. With access to HomeSend's growing network of money transfer operators (MTOs), cash agents and banks in over 200 countries, millions of Ericsson-powered mobile wallet users globally will benefit from easier and faster international payment services.

Samsung has brought to GITEX Technology Week the largest virtual reality (VR) theatre in the region. A dedicated VR Theatre was the highlight of Samsung's presence at the event, where they showcased to visitors the creative and entertainment capabilities of the Gear VR. As many as 32 4D motion chairs arranged in eight rows will form the VR theatre. The stand adjoins a 360 cabin that allowed visitors to take 360-degree images of themselves using the Gear 360 camera.

Nokia has expanded its portfolio of G.fast micro-nodes to help operators accelerate ultra-broadband deployments and deliver faster data speeds to end-customers using existing copper networks. The G.fast micro-nodes provide a simple, flexible plug-and-play solution that can scale in line with demand, allow for both distribution point and cabinet deployment models and cut roll-out times in half.

Batelco in collaboration with Ericsson and Net4Things is demonstrating a range of smart solutions at the Batelco Stand which is part of the Bahrain Pavilion, at GITEX 2016. The 5 day event is taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 16 to 20 October.

Nokia has been recognized as a leader in small cells technology in two key industry analyst reports. Gartner, Inc. has recognized Nokia in the 'Leaders' quadrant of its 2016 Magic Quadrant for Small Cell Equipment report and in an independent survey of 21 operators conducted by IHS - representing the largest global service providers by revenue - Nokia has been named the number one small cells vendor.

Qualcomm Technologies announced the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem, makingQualcomm the first company to announce a commercial 5G modem chipset solution. It is designed to support original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that are building the next generation of cellular devices, as well as aid operators with early 5G trials and deployments.
