The UAE Cabinet has approved the National Cybersecurity Strategy, marking a significant move to secure the country’s digital landscape. This strategic move comes as the UAE continues to cement its position as a global leader in cybersecurity, having ranked among the top global performers in the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index.
Addressing five main pillars—governance, protection, innovation, establishing and building, and partnership—the new strategy aims to establish a cohesive and highly effective governance framework for the cybersecurity sector, guaranteeing a secure, resilient, and sound digital environment.
The initiative is set to enable the safe and rapid adoption of innovations to accelerate digitization and cybersecurity, and reinforce local and global partnerships.
Chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Cabinet meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance; H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The country’s digital infrastructure is recognized as one of the most secure and advanced globally. The new national cybersecurity strategy aims to further enhance and safeguard the UAE’s national digital assets.
Sheikh Al Maktoum emphasized the significance of establishing robust cybersecurity measures, stating, “In the coming phase, we will continue strengthening cybersecurity measures, ensuring a resilient and secure digital environment that protects national assets and supports future progress.”
